FRIENDS OF LIBRARY ACCESS, INC. SCHOLARSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT

The Friends of Library Access, Inc. (FLA) is a non-profit corporation formed in 1992 whose mission is to provide public education and advocacy about disability issues. Specifically, we assist financially in the provision of accessible media, including braille, recorded and electronic materials and support volunteer and outreach activities of the Florida Braille and Talking Book Library.

The Friends of Library Access, Inc. (FLA) is pleased to announce that it will offer its first scholarship in the amount of $1,500.00 (one-thousand five hundred dollars) to a deserving scholar in recognition of their achievements. This first yearΓÇÖs scholarship is dedicated to the memory of notable disabilities advocate Nancy Burgess Hall.

This opportunity is open to any graduating college student, with or without a disability, who has been accepted to a graduate level institute, and is seeking a masterΓÇÖs or doctoral degree in the areas of Library Sciences, Exceptional Students Education, Counselling, Therapy or other field supporting persons with disabilities.

Please complete the below application and submit it along with supporting documentation (as noted in the application form) to the FLA Scholarship Committee Chairperson no later than February 15, 2025 in order to be considered for this opportunity. All eligibility requirements are noted within the accompanying application form.

The FLA Scholarship Committee will review all submissions and select the scholarship winner by March 1, 2025. The scholarship recipient and a guest of their choice will be invited to attend the April 2025 FLA Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon for the Florida Braille and Talking Book Library, where the scholar will be recognized for their achievements.
